A "soft return" using the %26lt;br%26gt; html tag will move the text to the next line.

A "hard return" can be accomplished by surrounding a block (paragraph) of text with the %26lt;p%26gt;---block of text---%26lt;/p%26gt; tags.

Actually, %26lt;br%26gt; is a line break or soft return. Some people use %26lt;br%26gt;%26lt;br%26gt; (2 soft returns) in place of a hard return. An actually hard return is %26lt;/p%26gt; (end paragraph).
